4 months as a High Performance Coach

May 30, 2022

For the last 2 years (basically since Covid started) I’ve been prioritising everyone and everything but myself.

Despite owning a gym and being at the gym most days I was massively neglecting weight training.

Some weeks I would do 2-3 sessions most weeks it was 1 if I was lucky.

Sometimes I would sit on the machine ready to train then feel guilty that I should be doing some work and sack it off and go do some work.

I was going home to the wife and kids and completely shattered and would just wedge myself on the sofa, absolutely no energy to play with the kids.

My blood pressure and cholesterol were high and my eating habits were shocking.

When we were going to ASDA I would buy 2 chocolate eclairs,2 apple turnovers and a pack of cookies and eat the lot in less than 10 minutes🙈.

At one point I was going to make a doctor’s appointment to see if I had chronic fatigue or arthritis as my joints were also sore as well as being constantly tired.

Adverts kept popping up on my Instagram feed for the High Performance Coach Program.

I pretty much stalked Joe for about 3 months and watched every video and read every testimonial.

All the coaches were talking about this unstoppable energy they had and how amazing they felt.

I just thought the unstoppable energy would be through nutrition and training…..

How wrong was I!

Training and nutrition are about 10% of the puzzle and this was where I was previously going wrong as I was using training and nutrition as 100% of the puzzle.

I signed up with Joe and the High Performance Coach team the week before Christmas.

Not the most ideal time to start but I’m one of these that when something enters my head I need to get started there and then.

Right away we set some non-negotiables of training 4 days a week.

Usually, I’m balls to the wall following a calorie deficit but this time I just stopped eating like a dick head 😂.

I see people all the time worrying about the minute detail about amino acid profiles of protein, is there enough fibre in each meal, eating so many times a day and whether they go over their macros by 1g then 8weeks later they are scoffing a 15-inch pizza 3 times a week and washing it down with full fat coke or a can a beer 🙈

For me everything starts with the training, if we start feeling good and putting the effort in at the gym, we are more inclined to eat better and make better choices.

When I think back, I’ve been my happiest and most productive whenever my training has been going well but it is so easy to slip out of the routine and so hard to get back into it.

Making subtle changes to my standards each week has been massive for me.

Anyone who knows me knows that everything was usually in chaos, car was messy, office was a tip.

When I was going home knackered, I was just leaving the dishes after tea and slobbing out on the sofa once the kids were in bed.

This was subconsciously draining my energy knowing that the dishes were there and needing done and, I was starting my day by cleaning the kitchen which was also draining me.

Now as soon as we finish eating tea, I blitz the kitchen which takes 20-30 minutes then I’ve got heaps more energy to play with the kids before they go to bed, and I feel great.

Another biggy for me was actually being in a group with other high performance coaches all striving to have high standards personally and professionally.

It’s like being back at school where no one wants to be last in the race or the last to be picked in a team.

Everyone is working towards improving 1% every single week.

Everyone is on their own journey, and everyone needs coached differently.

Coash the person, not the process!

The above statement is one of the main reasons that I stopped running my 6 week fat loss program Xtreme Lean and started building ‘Built to be Unstoppable” program.

Xtreme Lean is like any other 6 week program, we are coaching the process not the person.

Personal Trainers slag off slimming world and weightwatchers but to me this is just the same.

Yes we are teaching people about calories and habits but its nowhere near enough time to build them permanent habits which will allow someone to get in great shape but also stay in great shape.

I’ve currently just completed 4 months optimisation phase where I’ve built habits and raised both my professional and personal standards.

These are the results below with no focus on nutrition yet apart from stopping eating like a dick head 😂

19lbs down!

Usually I’d be in better shape than this within 6-8 weeks but in a very unsustainable way with lots of effort.

I was a bit reluctant to share my progress photos as last time I did they ended up printed off and put up in Powerhouse Gym Whitehaven with some black bodybuilders head stuck on to body shame me 🙈

But you know what I’ve got thick skin and I think more people need to see progression rather than the finished package.

I could just go through life sharing my photo shoot pics but to me that’s exactly what’s currently wrong with the industry.

It makes people think that we all walk around like that all the time.

Believe me most of us don’t!

I think it’s better to be open and honest all the time.

I’ve struggled with my weight my whole life.

I was awesome at getting into shape but even better at getting out of shape.

It was like a party trick 😂

Now I’ve got all my habits and standards in place things are much much easier.

This week I started looking more at my nutrition and moved into a Rapid Fat Loss phase.

I will do another blog after that phase with details of how I got on and what I done.

Hope you all enjoyed.

Please like and share if you found this useful.

If anyone would like to join the waiting list for my “Built to be Unstoppable” online program please drop me an email at lee@xtreme-fitness.co.uk and I cansend you more details 😊

Everything I’ve been doing myself will be going into this program.

It will be a high-end product with unbelievable support.

I’m currently working on all the protocols and building out the program.

Phase 1 – Optimisation Phase

Phase 2 – Rapid Fat Loss Protocol

Phase 3 – Performance Phase

Phase 4 – Rapid Muscle Gain Phase

Phase 5 – Forever Fit Phase

All of these phases will be interchangeable depending on the persons goals and the stage where they are currently at.

I cannot wait to get back into personal coaching😊
